When is the best time to visit Bocas Del Toro, Panama?

BDT has great weather all year and is visited most in September to April. Its consistently 28degrees Celsius.

When is the cheapest time to visit Bocas del Toro?

Low seasons runs from May 1st October 31st. High season is from November 1st to April 30th.

September

Very little rain, low and clear ocean, great for snorkeling and still the reduced prices of low season. Inhabits of BDT recommend September and October to family when looking to visit. Many of the beaches will be empty at this time!

October

Perhaps this is our favorate month. October seas very little rain, hardly any waves and the ocean is clear and perfect for snorkeling, diving and boat excursions. Prices are still low with very little tourists!

November

The sea starts gets higher, and rolling waves start to form at the end of the month. This is the windiest time of the year and has 3 great celebrations for Bastimentos Day, Bocas Day and 3 independence days! Tourism increases at this time as do the prices of the accommodation.

December

The sea gets higher, and rolling waves form. This is a great time for surfing and bodyboarding. Despite being the peak of the tourism season, there is some rain in these months! Accommodation becomes sparse at this time so book fast!

January

The biggest waves of the year are accompanied by traveling surfers, mostly dry but this month usually has a few storms.

February

Bocas experiences Carnival! A truly wonderful display of the vibrant culture that makes BDT. There are some still waves for surfing and pretty good weather with a healthy flux of tourists visiting the archipelago.

March

Spring break visits Bocas and the main town hosts plenty of celebrations. The ocean is flat and becomes lower making for great snorkeling and water activities. The weather is mostly sunny with some showers.

April

BDT sees a influx on local tourism for Panama and Costa Rica, the rains start and hit mostly in the nights and early morning, but the days are typically sunny,

May

Low season arrives with a reduction in accommodation costs, the sea is low and the weather can be either dry or have some rain. Its one of the quietest months of the year and can be a great chance to have the beach to yourself whilst still enjoying the sunshine.

June

The waves increase again, and surfing and bodyboarding become popular activities! The weather is mixed for this month with some rain and sunshine. The turtles start nesting, and you can visit them with a guide.Tourism starts picking up again for the summer holidays

July

Swells return to their full height, this is one of the best months for surfers. We see the most rain in July, but mostly at night. Half the days are sunny and half cloudy, the temperature is still 28 degrees Celsius, consistently!

August

Typically in August we see a great ratio of sunshine and rain. The sea is pretty low and clear and good for snorkeling, with the occasional swell arriving. We see less rain towards the end of this month.

Are you really an Eco Resort?

Yes, we run completely of solar power, apart from occasional use of a petrol generator in poor weather conditions. We collect rain water, and use a a filtration system to supply water for the resort.

Do you have all inclusive packages?

We currently do not have a restaurant, or offer all inclusive packages, however we are in discussions at the moment to partner with one of the local resorts to offer an all inclusive experience.

Can you snorkel from the beach?

Yes and one of our employees can take you a snorkeling tour from the beach for $15.

Are all the beach huts self contained?

Yes, we are different from the average hotel and offer self contained beach houses, each with their own kitchen.

Is Bocas Del Toro Safe?

Yes its not dangerous at all. There is a very low crime rate, and we have lived here for 5 years without incident. The resort has someone on the property 24/7.

Is it true you are building over the water accommodation?

Yes, we are building over the water bungalows and they will be ready in 2025.

How do you get from Bocas Del Toro to Panama City?

The best way is to fly from Albrook to Bocas Del Toro Airport, the flight is one hour. Or you can take an 8 hour bus to Chiriquí Grande and the Panabocas speedboat service to Loma Partida where we can collect you. Or you can take an 11 hour bus to Almirante followed by a speedboat to Isla Colon where we can collect you.

Is it worth visiting Bocas Del Toro?

Absolutely, between a combination of beautiful beaches, clear sea, friendly peoples and vibrant culture, BDT has something for everyone. Its vast diversity make its varying habits able to cater for a wide number of animals and birds, in fact Panama has more species of birds then Europe, the USA and Canada combined!
